Cal   The OHL released the schedule for the 2014-15 season. There are some interesting things that stand out after looking at the schedule. Let’s take a look at the Whalers 25th season in the OHL.

  • September 26th 2014 – Whalers will open the season just like they did last year, in London. At least there will not be a banner raising ceremony this time around.
  • September 27th 2014 – Deja vu in Plymouth again as the Erie Otters make their way to the Compuware Sports Arena for the Whalers home opener.
  • October 18th 2014 – The last time the Whalers play the Peterborough Petes this season will be the 9th game of the season.
  • February 21st, 26th & 27th – A hat trick of games against the Sarnia Sting. Two in Plymouth and the third in Sarnia. I think grudges could carry over by the third game comes around.
  • – Thursday games at the CSA this season. (Feb. 26th against Sarnia and March 5th against Saginaw)
  • 7 – Seven home-and-home series for the Whalers this season. (Kitchener, Windsor, Windsor, Windsor, Sarnia, Saginaw, Saginaw)
  • – The number of Plymouth Whalers/Detroit Red Wings game conflicts this season. (Sep. 27th, Oct.11th, Nov. 7th, Nov. 26th, Dec. 6th, Jan. 17th, Jan. 31st, and Feb. 14th)
  • 9 – Out of the first 20 games, nine will be played at home. That is better than the five out of twenty that the Whalers had to start the season last year.
  • 23 – That is the number of home games held on a Saturday for the Whalers. That leaves nine games played on a day other than Saturday.
