Seventeen Games Remaining; 28 Points To Go!

The Whalers started the weekend right and came away with a big 5-1 win against the Soo Greyhounds. Kitchener lost 3-2 against Oshawa, Sarnia lost 7-2 against Ottawa, and Owen Sound lost 7-3 to London. All of these games played into the Whalers favor.

The magic number is down to 28. Plymouth is currently seven points ahead of Kitchener and nine points behind the seventh place Owen Sound Attack. Even better is that Plymouth gets back the players that were suspended from the Kingston game last week.

The scratches tonight are going to be Dunda, Yetman, Addesi and Hiddink. All of whom are listed as healthy scratches.

The Games Tonight

  • North Bay (28-18-4-2 | 62 points) @ Plymouth (19-27-0-5 | 43 points)
    • Season Series: Whalers beat North Bay in overtime back on October 17th
  • Kitchener (17-32-1-1 | 36 points)  @ Owen Sound (23-22-3-3 | 52 points)
    • Season Series: Kitchener is 2-4 against Owen Sound this season
  • Sarnia (15-31-1-5 | 36 points) @ Belleville (14-33-2-2 | 32 points)
    • Season Series: Belleville beat Sarnia 7-2 back on January 30th

The Best Case Scenario:

What would work best for the Whalers is if they beat North Bay tonight and Kitchener and Sarnia lose. It’s more important for the Whalers to clinch rather than try to gain ground on Owen Sound. If this happens the magic number goes down to 24.
